We are a small team of individuals with a deep-seated passion for Indian Classical Dance. We spend our time trying to understand what Bharatanatyam can bring to today's world, identifying the space it occupies on the global dance map and working towards sculpting this space for the future.
Sumathi Vikram is an Indian Bharathanatyam artiste and teacher based in Austin Texas. Having received her initial training under the illustrious Guru Smt. Indira Rajan, she continues to learn and deepen her engagement with gifted teachers like A Lakshamanswamy, Dr. Apoorva Jayaraman and Smt. Shreelata Suresh( CA). Teaching is first love for the dancer who is keen to share her passion for the Indian classical art form with all either through her performances or through her classes. Before she moved to Austin in June 2019, Sumathi Vikram taught for more than a decade at Vishwa Shanthi Dance Academy(CA), as the co-director for their Fremont location . Along with Dr. Apoorva Jayaram, she recently co-founded RootEd, an arts initiative that centralizes the reengaging of the audiences with the Indian classical arts. Apart from performing and teaching, she volunteers her time and skill in projects that aim to present the Indian performing arts amidst mainstream audiences. She holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Madras, Chennai.
Sukanya Sharath is a marketer with a passion for creating a positive impact both for the customers and the company she works for. With a decade of marketing experience, she motivates other marketers and team members to tell the brand’s story in a creative and authentic way which will help the brand stand out from all the noise and reach several consumers. Sukanya believes marketing is not just about acquiring customers but building long term relationships. Sukanya has been fortunate to have successful experiences both in leadership and independent roles working in industries ranging from finance to fashion retail. Sukanya currently resides in Lafayette, California with her husband, two children and a golden doodle. In her spare time, she is busy subjecting her family to her culinary creations. She also loves hiking and listening to music.
